Al ritmo de Petra

Looking to expand on the biographies of trailblazing women highlighted in ELLAS: historias de mujeres puertorriqueñ as, Al ritmo de Petra tells the wonderful story of Petra Cepeda; a pioneering force behind the Afro Caribbean bomba and plena music genre in Puerto Rico. Petra was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico to an extremely talented family and she loved to sing and dance. She became an accomplished orator, singer, instrumentalist and bomba and plena dancer, and was tireless in her goal of preserving Afro Caribbean traditions and culture.
